ELECTRONICS / DESIGN / PRODUCTION

Hardware design.

From circuit design to production-ready hardware.

We develop schematics, printed circuit board (PCB) layouts and embedded control hardware. Start with a circuit, a power stage or a complete assembly. Simulation, prototype measurements and supplier reviews guide the design through production preparation.

THE HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

From requirements
to verified hardware.

Each stage has clear deliverables. We coordinate design, sourcing and manufacturing decisions to resolve issues before the next build.

  1. Define the requirements

Agree on the required functions, power levels, interfaces, operating conditions, dimensions and acceptance criteria. Identify critical risks and the questions the prototype needs to answer.

    DELIVERABLERequirements and system architecture
  2. Design & simulate

Develop schematics for power distribution, sensing, protection and communication circuits. Use circuit and system models to assess operating conditions before committing to hardware.

    DELIVERABLEReviewed schematics and simulation findings
  3. Lay out the PCB

Define the PCB stack-up, component placement, routing, return paths and thermal paths. Select components with availability, lifecycle, assembly and enclosure fit in mind.

DELIVERABLEPCB layout, bill of materials and prototype build data
  4. Prototype & verify

Power up and test the board, check power sequencing and interfaces, and measure critical behaviour. Update the design to resolve issues, then repeat the relevant tests.

    DELIVERABLEWorking prototypes and verification records
  5. Prepare for production

Review manufacturability, assembly requirements and test access with the supplier. Agree on inspection coverage, fixtures, programming, initial sample checks and production release criteria.

DELIVERABLEManufacturing files and agreed test limits
  6. Build & support

Coordinate supplier production, inspection and delivery records. Keep hardware, firmware and bill of materials (BOM) revisions aligned throughout production and ongoing support.

ADVANCED ELECTRONICS

The right technology
for the application.

Performance, reliability, maintainability and cost guide the architecture. Technology and manufacturing options are assessed against the project requirements and the supplier's process capabilities.

Advanced PCB technology

  • HDI
  • Rigid-flex
  • Fine-pitch / BGA

Dense interconnects, constrained packaging and complex assemblies, with stack-up and process limits agreed with the fabricator.

Power electronics

  • SiC / GaN
  • AC/DC
  • DC/DC / DAB

Converter power stages, gate drives, sensing and protection. Switching behaviour, isolation, thermal paths and EMC are assessed together.

Embedded control

  • MCU / MPU
  • FPGA
  • Model-based control

Hardware architectures matched to timing, interface and diagnostic requirements, with provision for programming, watchdogs and fault recovery.

Connected hardware

  • CAN / CAN FD
  • Ethernet
  • RS-485

Robust communication and sensor interfaces, including UART, SPI and I²C, with isolation and protection selected for the environment.

High-speed & mixed-signal

  • Signal integrity
  • Power integrity
  • Precision sensing

Controlled-impedance routing, return paths and sensitive analogue signal paths are assessed during schematic design and PCB layout.

Product security & maintenance

  • Secure boot
  • Signed updates
  • Traceability

Hardware security features, controlled firmware updates and linked manufacturing records, selected to address the product's security requirements and identified threats.

POWER ELECTRONICS & SYSTEM SIMULATION

Simulate circuit behaviour
before prototyping.

Compare AC/DC, DC/DC and dual-active-bridge (DAB) concepts. Evaluate start-up, load changes, control response, losses and fault behaviour across the intended operating range.

PLECS

Power-stage and control modelling, switching losses and combined electrical / thermal assessment.

MATLAB / Simulink

System and control simulation with Simscape Electrical, including converter behaviour, operating sequences and fault scenarios.

QSPICE

Circuit-level power, analogue and mixed-signal simulation for focused design decisions and transient analysis.

From model to measurement. Use the agreed models to guide component selection and test cases, then compare simulation results with prototype measurements.

PRODUCTION & VERIFICATION

Engineering by AXOVEC.
Production through suppliers.

We coordinate the technical package, supplier review and engineering changes. Selected external facilities provide manufacturing, specialist processes and agreed test evidence.

Assembly, protection & integration

PCB fabrication and assembly using surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole (THT) components. Processes include fine-pitch placement, reflow and selective soldering where appropriate.

  • Design for manufacture, assembly and test (DFM / DFA / DFT)
  • Conformal coating, potting and cable harnesses
  • Complete product assembly, enclosure fit and thermal integration

Inspection, test & traceability

Inspection checks assembly quality; functional testing verifies how the hardware performs. Test coverage and acceptance limits are agreed for the product.

  • 3D solder paste inspection (SPI), automated optical inspection (AOI) and X-ray inspection where applicable
  • Flying probe, in-circuit, boundary-scan and functional testing
  • Programming, serialisation and linked manufacturing and test records

Original illustrative visualisations. Equipment, process capability, inspection coverage and capacity are confirmed with the selected production facility.

SUPPLIER CERTIFICATIONS & QUALITY

Supplier qualifications
matched to your programme.

The following management-system certifications may be relevant when selecting production suppliers. The required certifications depend on the product and manufacturing scope.

Quality management

  • ISO 9001:2015

Electronic product manufacturing and assembly within the supplier's certified scope.

Automotive quality

  • IATF 16949:2016

Automotive manufacturing within the certified site's scope, including any stated exclusions.

Medical-device quality

  • ISO 13485:2016

Defined electronic and mechanical subassembly activities at the selected manufacturing facility.

Environmental management

  • ISO 14001:2015

Management of environmental aspects at the certified production site.

Health & safety

  • ISO 45001

Occupational health and safety management within the supplier's applicable site scope.

Energy management

  • ISO 50001:2018

Energy management systems at the certified supplier facility.

Supplier credentials, confirmed for each production order.

Certifications belong to the certified supplier and site. They do not transfer to AXOVEC / VECTORMIND S.R.L. or constitute product approval. Current validity, scope and exclusions are checked during supplier qualification.

START YOUR HARDWARE PROJECT

Develop a new circuit
or improve an existing design.

Tell us what the hardware must do, its power levels and interfaces, where it will operate, the quantities required and your target date. A brief or an outline of an existing design is enough to start the discussion.
